No, London Bridge Tower also isn’t lit up for Marcos-Duterte’s presumptive victory

Pro-Marcos supporters are sharing this time a Facebook post that falsely claims that the London Bridge Tower lit up red and green in celebration of the presumptive victory of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and running mate Sara Duterte.

FactRakers earlier fact-checked similar claims about the Kingdom Tower in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Calgary Tower in Canada, Eiffel Tower in France, Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates and the Auckland Sky Tower in New Zealand. All are false.

Facebook page BBM-Sara for Visayas that posted the London Bridge photo on May 12 with the caption:

LOOK: Nakikiisa ang LONDON BRIDGE sa pagbati sa ating Pres at VP (London Bridge is celebrating the win of our and Vice President)

This, too, is false.

Red and green are Marcos’ and Duterte’s campaign colors.

A reverse search shows that the photo is from 2021 when the bridge turned red and green, the colors of the Bangladesh flag, to celebrate the contribution of the Bangladeshi community to London.

The largest population of the Bangladeshi community can be found in Tower Hamlets, one of the boroughs of London, according to the London City Government.

As of writing, the post has garnered over 529 reactions, 65 shares and 29 comments. (PA)
