A mugshot of Police Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca taken following his arrest for fatally shooting two innocent civilians at close range in Paniqui, Tarlac on Dec. 20 has been altered to show him smiling.
The manipulated photo appears in the video posted Dec. 21 by YouTube channel Shelina Ong.
The 98-second video also bore a misleading title:
RAFFY TULFO AT PANGULO NANGGIGIL! JONEL NUEZCA NATUWA PA SA PAGKULONG! KASO NITO PANGHABANG BUHAY NA (Raffy Tulfo and the president enraged! Jonel Nuezca happy that he got arrested! His case will be for life)
Nuezca has been charged with double murder for gunning down Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank, 25, when he went to investigate the boga or air cannon the latter had set off. He was off duty at the time.
The Nuezcas and Gregorios have long had a right-of-way property dispute.
Official mugshots released by the Paniqui Municipal Police Station show Nuezca was not smiling in any of them.
The YouTube channel had apparently cropped the original photo then altered Nuezca’s appearance to make it look like he was smiling.
The video’s narration also failed to include any statement from President Rodrigo Duterte, contrary to the headline. It said:
Update today: Pulis Jonel Nuezca hindi tinigilan ng mga netizen, maging si sir Raffy Tulfo na managot ito sa batas at bigyan ng nararapat na aksyon sa ginawa nito sa mag-ina. Nagwarning sign na si sir Tulfo na kapag ang kasong ito ay madidismiss ng katungkulan ay talagang gugulo ang buong Pilipinas dahil lahat ng mga tao ay sang-ayon na mabulok sa kulungan ang ang ama ni E***** Nuezca, na si Jonel Nuezca. Matapang na hinarap ng pulis, na si Jonel, ang presinto at nagpahiwatig ng kanyang sariling opinyon. Ikil ng mga netizen na kung hindi sana nambastos ang anak ng pulis na si E***** Nuezca, ay wala sigurong nadamay na buhay. Ngunit dahil sa kahandugan ng bata ay talagang natrigger pa ang ama nito. [Ang] rason na sinigawan umano ni Sonya Gregorio si E***** ay mali pa rin [dahil sa] ginawa ng anak nito. Sumawsaw sa gulo ng matatanda kaya ngayon ay gigil na gigil si sir Raffy Tulfo sa ginawa ni Jonel Nuezca, na isa pa namang alagad ng batas. Kaya ipinapangako ni sir Raffy na hindi ito makakalusot sa ngayon dahil mabubulok talaga ito sa bilangguan. Hashtag bigyan din ng aksyon ang batang supladita.
(Update today: Netizens and Raffy Tulfo are demanding justice over the actions police officer Jonel Nuezca had done to the mother and son. Tulfo had already warned that should this case be dismissed by authorities, the Philippines would be in chaos because all of the people agree that E***** Nuezca’s father, Jonel Nuezca, should rot in prison. Jonel boldly went to the police station to give his side on the matter. Netizens argue that if only [the] daughter of the police officer, E***** Nuezca, hadn’t been rude, then lives wouldn’t have been lost. However, her father was triggered to take action because of the daughter. The reason that Sonya Gregorio scolded E***** does not justify (the shooting) for the child had acted rudely. She meddled in a fight between adults and that’s why Raffy Tulfo is enraged by Jonel Nuezca’s actions considering that he is a law enforcer. Raffy assures that he [Nuezca] will not get away with what he did and promises that he will rot in jail. Hashtag also take action on the spoiled brat.)”

Sonya and Frank Gregorio were laid to rest in Paniqui, Tarlac on Dec. 27, exactly one week after the shooting.
The YouTube video was reshared in Fan Idol and Fan IDOL Rafytulo, Facebook pages, and kidstva.com, a video streaming website. As of writing, it has garnered 14,483 views, 38 comments, 166 likes, and 14 dislikes.
Shelina Ong’s YouTube channel was created on March 6, 2018 and has since earned 117,000 subscribers and 24,114,480 views. Its content mainly focuses on scandalous and sensational news. (MCQ)
